Immaculate Heart accepting students

The Religious Education Program at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Papaikou is still accepting children ages 4-10.

The classes are held on Sunday from 8:30-11 a.m. and include the 10 a.m. Mass. Parents are asked to provide a birth certificate when a child is registered for the first time and verify any sacraments received.

End of Life talk slated for Oct. 5

The Hawaii Island United Hongwanji Buddhist Women’s Association invites the public to a special End of Life Symposium from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Kona Hongwanji Social Hall at 81-6630 Mamalahoa Highway in Kealakekua.

“The End of Life Symposium will be a wonderful opportunity to listen and participate in areas that impact all of us,” said spokeswoman Linda Nagai.

The agenda topics will cover the following areas: serious or terminal illness, unexpected deaths, caregiving, support networks, and legal/financial issues.

Please call the Kona Hongwanji at 323-2993 to reserve your space by Sept. 27. Registration will be from 8:30-9 a.m. on the morning of the event. Registration is $5, which covers the cost of handouts, refreshments and lunch.

The members of the islandwide Buddhist Women’s Association encourages everyone to participate in this educational and informative symposium.
